Services & Programs
Our dedicated Advocates are here to support you. Together, we can explore the benefits, entitlements, and resources available to help you live independently. We’ll provide you with clear information about your rights and share proven strategies that have helped thousands of Dutchess County residents with disabilities and their families achieve their goals. Let us partner with you to create a plan that meets your unique needs and aspirations.

Increasing Community Access
We have two programs geared toward improving access to the community. MHIS provides interpreter services for a fee when needed to access medical services, education or other events open to the public. DDAP provides consultation to businesses and villages on removing barriers to create full access and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The Mid-Hudson Interpreter Service (MHIS), a program of Taconic Resources for Independence, Inc. (TRI), located in Poughkeepsie, New York, has been providing American Sign Language (ASL)/English interpreting and translating services since 1989. MHIS provides sign language interpreting services to the Mid-Hudson Valley area, including Dutchess, Orange, Ulster, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester Counties.
Dutchess Disability Advocacy Partnership (DDAP) is dedicated to promoting and maintaining systems advocacy efforts that will result in improving and enhancing the civil rights of individuals with disabilities in Dutchess County. The overarching goal of DDAP is to promote the full inclusion of persons with disabilities in every aspect of community life in Dutchess County.
